Advent Day Eleven: Morning

Morning

Read Isaiah 12vv2-6

Silence is kept for two minutes.

Reflection

The paradox of the Advent season is stark. Judgment doesn’t bring condemnation, it brings joy. Unfettered, extravagant joy. Isaiah’s poetry constantly traces the line between these two conjoined themes. Here in Isaiah 12, we see God’s joyful prodigality. Isaiah writes, “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” God’s salvation is a well that will not run dry. We draw from it every moment, praising his name, proclaiming what he has done for us.

Prayer: Lord of salvation, may we sense your joy in giving us salvation and life as we receive it. May we walk the world, praising your name, proclaiming your beautiful and wondrous deeds, and living as people of joy.
