Advent Day Twelve: Morning

Morning

Read 2 Corinthians 9vv1-15

Silence is kept for two minutes.

6 The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work

Reflection

Advent, God’s coming to us, rejoices in wrapping God’s infinite abundance in inconspicuous and deceptively simple packages. The baby born to Mary that Christmas day is God in fullness, the author of the stars in swaddling clothes. As we see God revealed to us, the message is simple, yet incredibly profound: God gives, God gives and never runs out, he gives of himself completely. And as we observe each Advent season, as we are astounded afresh by the extent of God’s graciousness, we are invited to be participants with him, givers of incomprehensible gifts of love, justice, and hope.

Prayer: May we give as God gives: joyfully, whole-heartedly, and sacrificially.
